Five Things to Know About Zoom In-Office Teeth Whitening

Are your pearly whites … not so white? Foods — including berries, red wine, and curry sauces — can leave your teeth stained. Smoking and age can affect the shade of your teeth as well. Luckily, many types of stains can be removed with professional whitening treatments. At Westlake Smile Studio in Westlake Village, California, Dr. Mimi Theerathada understands that the best smile is one that you’re proud of. That’s why Dr. Theerathada is proud to offer a variety of cosmetic services — including Zoom whitening treatments — so you can fall in love again with your smile. Contemplating a whitening treatment? Here are five things you need to know about Zoom in-office teeth whitening treatments.

Zoom whitening treatments are fast

If you’ve tried over-the-counter whitening products, you might have spent weeks applying whitening gels only to get less-than-stellar results. Zoom treatments can provide impressive results quickly. During your treatment, Dr. Theerathada applies a special bleaching solution to trays that fit into your mouth. For 15 minutes, a supplemental lamp shines on your teeth and works in unison with the bleaching agent to lift stains and brighten your smile. This process is repeated three times, for a total of 45 minutes with the trays in place. The whole process, from the time you sit down to the time you leave the office, takes less than two hours.

Treatments are comfortable

Whitening agents are known for causing temporary gum discomfort and minor tooth sensitivity. Zoom whitening treatments address both of these issues.

Gum discomfort

Prior to your treatment, your provider applies a thin layer of cotton to protect your gums.

Tooth sensitivity

After your whitening treatments, soothing gel is applied to your teeth to reduce sensitivity. Sensitivity is mild and often dissipates after 48 hours, but you can boost your comfort by using a toothpaste formulated for sensitivity.

You can maintain your results at home

Want to prolong the results from your in-office teeth whitening? Zoom take-home trays are available for periodic maintenance. You can also use the take-home trays if you’d rather skip the in-office treatment and brighten your smile from the comfort of your own home.

You can brighten your smile by up to eight shades

Zoom whitening treatments have been clinically proven to whiten teeth by up to eight shades. Here’s the best part: It only takes one visit!*

Zoom won’t work for all types of stains

While Zoom offers impressive results, it can’t whiten all types of teeth. For instance, crowns and other restorative materials might not whiten the same way as natural enamel. This could lead to uneven whitening. If you have crowns or stains that won’t be improved with Zoom, consider other cosmetic procedures, such as veneers.
