Having a sparkling smile can transform your face, but if you focus on flaws when you look in the mirror, you may be interested in learning about the facial aesthetics services available at Westlake Smile Studio. We go beyond your smile to help you present your best face to the world.

Your skin

Is your skin looking less vital? Often the problem is a lack of collagen, the substance that keeps your skin firm, smooth, and elastic. As you age, your body produces less collagen, leading to skin that appears blotchy, saggy, or wrinkled.

Microneedling creates tiny wounds in your skin that stimulates your body’s natural healing processes, including collagen production. Dr. Theerathada uses a tool specially designed to make very small punctures in your skin.

The whole process is considered minimally invasive, and there’s little downtime associated with it. You can return to work and most of your daily activities, though it is recommended that you avoid working out or going to the sauna for 24 hours.

Microneedling is effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, and acne scars. It also leaves your skin soft and glowing. Over time, you’ll enjoy firmer, more evenly pigmented skin.

Stubborn wrinkles

We offer a couple of different treatments to help reduce the appearance of stubborn wrinkles. The one that Dr. Theerathada suggests depends on several factors, including the location of your wrinkles, as well as what caused them and how deep they are.

If you’d like to banish dynamic wrinkles -- those that are caused by your facial expressions, such as crow’s feet around your eyes -- Botox® injections may be the best solution for you. Botox injections are the most-performed cosmetic procedure in the United States.

Botulinum toxin type A has been used in cosmetic applications for nearly 20 years and is considered safe. The injection works by stopping the nerve signals to the muscles that contract and cause your wrinkles. Your face is still expressive, just with fewer wrinkles.

Other wrinkles may be better treated using a dermal filler from a line of products called Juvéderm®. Juvéderm products are soft gels that contain hyaluronic acid. They’re injected to provide fullness, usually in the cheeks or around the mouth and lips.

Juvéderm fillers can smooth moderate-to-severe wrinkles in a natural way, giving your face a soft, smooth appearance.

Double chin

That little pad of fat beneath your chin is called submental fullness. If you have it, chances are it bothers you. There’s now an FDA-approved treatment that can erase your double chin.

Kybella® is an injection that destroys the fat cells that make up your submental fullness. Its active ingredient is a synthetic form of a substance that occurs naturally in your stomach acid. It dissolves the membrane of each fat cell in your double chin, destroying it, and your body then disposes of the destroyed cells through your lymphatic system.

While Kybella is effective, you may need more than one treatment, and each treatment consists of multiple injections. You may experience some swelling and redness afterward.

However, Kybella is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive approach to getting rid of that unwanted, under-chin fat. You’ll have a nicer, neater profile -- and as long as you follow a reasonable diet and exercise plan, the results should be permanent.
